While a coalition between the Christian conservative parties and the green party Germany, th blending of liberal climate “protection” and right-wing conservative domestic and migration policies has already become a bitter reality in Austria. The Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) dominates the coalition he local Greens vote against taking in children from burned-down Moria, and despite their participation in government, Austria is likely European climate targets. The example of Austria shows how easily pure climate movements are dominated in right-wing coalitions when a clear commitment to climate justice, anti-fascism and anti-racism is missing.
In this panel discussion, we will ask activists from Germany and Austria how we as a radical climate movement should deal with a possible government. Furthermore, we will discuss how to counteract a split of the climate movement along racist foreign or border policies.
