6.7. – What does a conservativ & green coalition imply for the climate justice movement?

7.30 pm – Online – Language: German

While a coalition between the Christian conservative parties and the green party becomes a future scenario for Germany, the blending of liberal climate “protection” and right-wing conservative domestic and migration policies has already become a bitter reality in Austria. The Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) dominates the coalition. As part of the coalition, the local Greens vote against taking in children from burned-down Moria, and despite their participation in government, Austria is likely fall far behind the European climate targets. The example of Austria shows how easily pure climate movements are dominated in right-wing coalitions when a clear commitment to climate justice, anti-fascism and anti-racism is missing.

In this panel discussion, we will ask activists from Germany and Austria how we, as a radical climate movement, should deal with a possible christian conservativ & green government. Furthermore, we will discuss how to counteract a split of the climate movement along racist foreign or border policies.
